The fourth annual Mining Magazine Intelligence Automation Report provides a comprehensive review of automation within the mining industry. It collates interviews with industry leaders and profiles on mines at various stages of automation to help stakeholders understand the operators and suppliers at the leading edge of this technology.
Covering all areas of the expertise employed, the report shows how companies are using automation to increase efficiency, improve health and safety, cut costs, reduce carbon emissions and move to remote working.
The 2023 edition takes a deep dive into differences in uptake by region and sector and finds that in spite of enthusiasm within the industry, the growth in investment in automation is slowing down.
Methodology:
The Mining Magazine Intelligence Automation Report 2023 uses a combination of company reports, publicly released information and exclusive interviews to provide a snapshot of how the industry is investing in and employing automation technology. The focus is on the machines used at the mine site and the OEMs that supply those machines.
The report breaks down those machines by function – for instance drill rigs, loaders and haulage trucks – and manufacturer. It also looks at the key areas driving investment decisions by speaking directly to the people making those decisions.
By looking at individual mines, the report identifies which regions and companies are prioritizing automation and which are lagging behind.
