PRESS RELEASE: According to a report in the Economic Times, the centre has been designed for executive, engineer and technical training and will include a virtual reality mine.

The announcement stemmed from a meeting of a 20-member delegation from across the Australian mining equipment technologies and solutions sector in Kolkata last week to examine opportunities for METS in India’s mining industry. More than 150 delegates are in the country now as part of the Australia Business Week in India 2017 (ABWI) event.

The 20 in Kolkata also met with Coal India, S&T Mining Company and officials from other eastern Indian mining companies to look at their mining projects and how the Australian industry can potentially assist.

“Australia offers innovative mining equipment, technology and services (METS) that can help India meet ambitious new production targets and stricter safety, quality, environmental and water management regulations,” Australian Trade and Investment Commission trade commissioner Tim Martin said.

Austrade said ABWI 2017 include more than 75 events in six Indian cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bhopal. The event will focus on bringing together the two countries in areas of modernization such as agribusiness, mining, higher education and smart infrastructure.
