No terms of the transaction have been released.

NORCAT, which has been seeing growth across the mining, oil/gas, forestry and construction markets the last half decade both domestically and internationally, said the takeover will boost and complement its existing suite of products and also help it increase market share.

“With this acquisition, coupled with our continued investment and deployment of leading-edge training and development technologies, we are well-positioned to continue to build our global brand in the skilled labour training and development market,” CEO Don Duval said, adding that its supervisor training, train-the-trainer, and equipment simulation programmes will continue to be a cornerstone of its offerings.

Additionally, investments are ongoing for the company’s Underground Centre, an underground operating mine dedicated to mine skills training and technology development and testing.

“The acquisition of Workplace Training and Safety First demonstrates our commitment to expanding our reach and impact to ensure all workers have the right skills and confidence to be both productive and safe in the workplace,”added NORCAT board chair and Glencore mining projects general manager Shayne Wisniewski.
