Training exercises on the system have been divided into different levels, and programmes for the unit can be tailored for specific needs. Trainers can also feed unexpected scenarios to the simulator as a trainee advances their knowledge.

The OEM said a main benefit to simulator training is the ability to be familiar with the equipment well before the real machine arrives on-site. It also benefits the operator because unnecessary equipment damage is avoided.

"A skilled operator knows how to utilize the equipment the most efficient way without compromising safety or the equipment itself. As all the functions are used as intended, the possibilities for disturbances and losses are minimized," it noted.

Other advantages include safety and operator comfort, increased productivity, increased profitability and higher loader utilisations.

The simulator's operator compartment is motion base platform-mounted, giving it an authentic feel for the trainee. A sound bar in the machine simulates the engine sound and other equipment functions, helping to fully simulate the mine environment - which completes the view with HD displays that provide a 3D view of the working area.
