Under the hood, the new unit has a certified Tier 4 Final SAA6D170E-7 engine with a net horsepower of 609hp in the forward direction and 748hp in the reverse direction, offering 20% more horsepower and production increases of up to 18%.
No Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system or Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is required, and a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) improves low speed response and boost.
The D375A-8 dozer has a high-pressure common rail fuel injection system and dual Komatsu diesel particulate filters (KDPFs) along with large capacity and high-efficiency exhaust gas recirculation coolers.
An automatic, three-speed transmission with an automatically engaging lockup torque converter provides increased fuel efficiency and faster ground speeds during long pushes.
From a performance perspective, Komatsu has made changes to the dozer’s suspended undercarriage, cab isolators, operator seat and ergonomics, and structural enhancements of the track frame and mainframe will increase major component life.
Maintenance is reduced and blade stiffness has been increased with single-link blade support and larger trunnion bearings, a feature that can also minimise blade shake. Other standard features such as blade auto-pitch, a ripper auto-return and shoe slip control reduce operator fatigue and increase productivity, and there is improved visibility to the cutting edge and ripper point.
The D375A-8 has been designed with forward-winging engine access doors, a full wrap-around rear platform, larger cab mounts and a larger-capacity air conditioner. A swing-out, hydraulically driven and reversible radiator fan and Mesabi copper-core radiator simplify cleaning and maintenance, and purchases can also select an optional hydraulic boarding ladder.
Other on-board features include: cab layout and work equipment control lever modifications made to improve ergonomics and overall operator comfort; ground-level fluid evacuation/service centre with Wiggins quick couplers; remote-mounted, centralised grease points; a ground-level fast fuel coupler; centralised fluid sampling and PM service connectors; a standard rearview monitoring system; and a standard LED lighting package.
“Whether its reclamation, large construction or production mining applications, the D375A-8 is the right machine for the job,” product manager Joe Sollitt said.
“The durability improvements to this new model drive down the total cost of ownership, while the more powerful Tier 4 final engine significantly increases performance and production. The improvements to the undercarriage, cab suspension and operator interface will make D375A-8 operators more comfortable and productive throughout their shift.”
