The Utah, US-based company said its 680 employees worked accident-free from April 2015 to April 2018, performing tasks including surface and underground exploration drilling, as well as production work and sonic, large-diameter rotary, reverse-circulation and mud-rotary drilling.
"This is a significant accomplishment for Boart Longyear, and it's another example of the good outcomes that can result from the efforts of operational and safety teams living and breathing our safety culture," COO Denis Despres said.
Boart Longyear's staff has received multiple client and industry recognitions for its record safety achievements in Canada. Specifically, McArthur River crews surpassed 14 years LTI-free, and the Saskatchewan Mining Association (SMA) recognised it with a Safety Achievement Award in March at the SMA annual general meeting banquet and awards.
SME also honored the company as the contractor with 2017's best safety statistics.
