In the June quarter, Züblin International Chile, which works as a contractor for the state-owned Chilean miner, put through a SK135 million (US$14.3 million) order for multiple drill rigs and loaders for use at the El Teniente underground copper mine in central Chile.
As part of the mine's expansion project, called El Teniente New Mine Level, the mine will be made deeper and its lifespan will be extended by an estimated 50 years.
Dirk Pförtner, commercial managing director at STRABAG Chile, said Epiroc put together a comprehensive offer for them, which included equipment, service support and training.
The order includes different models of the Boomer face-drilling rig, Simba production drilling rig and Scooptram loader.
The machines will be equipped with the Epiroc telematics system Certiq, allowing automated monitoring of productivity and machine performance.
Delivery of the equipment has already started and will take place through early 2020.
