Australian Standard AS 5062-2016 outlines the requirement of fire protection for mobile and transportable equipment. Dafo's SV-K fire suppression system now has a certificate of approval from certification body Global-Mark, marking a significant positive step for the company and system.
The certificate will be issued to Dafo Vehicle Fire Protection's Australian partner BFI Fire/Dafo Australia.
"This is a big step for us to make more impact on the Australian heavy-duty mobile equipment (HDME) market mainly within the areas of mining, cargo, construction, forestry, waste and agricultural handling equipment in a broader and more comprehensive perspective," Dafo's business manager for Asia and Australasia Holger Pfriem said.
With more than 150,000 systems sold across global military and civil customers, the company feels the certification will help it expand its business.
"As a second step, we will soon launch a fluorine-free agent," MD David Thurn said, though the official did not disclose additional details.
Dafo also makes the Forrex system, which combines the features of liquid and dry chemicals for vehicle protection, providing flame knock-down and protection against reignition.
