Mining Tag will be a useful addition due to its sensor solutions that enable monitoring, automation and process improvement, said Epiroc.
Mining Tag's sensors are used to track personnel, assets and provide fleet management solutions.
Products that Epiroc can now leverage include Mining Tag's productivity tool, MT OneMine, and MT Guardian for improved safety.
MT OneMine is a fleet management system that aims to improve the short-term mine planning control and fleet management, allowing productivity rises between 5% and 40%, according to the company.
MT Guardian allows multiple people, equipment and assets to be localized in real time using RFID technology.
"Intelligent mining solutions are the future," says Helena Hedblom, Epiroc's president and CEO. "Together with the innovative team at Mining Tag we will strengthen our smart digitalization offering to customers in Latin America and beyond.".
Epiroc noted that Mining Tag is active in several countries in Latin America. It has about 120 employees and had revenues in 2020 of about US$7 million.
Epiroc acquired real-time borehole assay data firm Kinetic Logging in June, and South Korean hydraulic breaker manufacturer D&A Heavy Industries in April.
In March, it acquired electrification infrastructure company Meglab, and productivity software specialists MineRP was snapped up last December.
