The arrival of the new 200-tonne class machines boosts the fleet of Liebherr equipment at the project to seven.

"From the outset of our partnership, Liebherr has accompanied us in all aspects of our work," said Noval Asfihani, president director at Karunia. "Liebherr's first-class support, coupled with the exceptional performance of its equipment, is precisely what has enabled us to achieve our targets with confidence."

Liebherr Indonesia's product support representative, Jaka Subali, was on-hand to assemble the two excavators during the delivery.

"The communication and coordination with the Karunia team went like clockwork,' he said. "Thanks to constructive interaction and outstanding planning, we were able to complete the assembly four days ahead of schedule."

In February, Karunia pre-purchased four R9300 G8 250-tonne class excavators. The decision followed Karunia's inclusion in the development and validation process of the new mining excavator. The mining development company received a pre-series R 9300 unit in September 2022 as part of that process.

At Tabang, Karunia is in the process of removing overburden as it aims to increase site production.

The first of the four R9300 G8 excavators is expected to arrive in Indonesia later this year, with subsequent deliveries anticipated for early 2024.
