The 785D water truck incorporates Cat's proprietary operations platform and Water Delivery System (WDS) to manage haul road dust using less water.
While enhancing efficiency, the new offering also features an integrated 121,133L water tank with spray system, splash guards, fill chute and rock ejectors. According to the company, the 785D can prevent under and over-watering using the WDS.
System components for the WDS include the water cannon, oil cooler, variable displacement pump, hydraulic oil tank, electronic control boxes and hydraulic motor/water pump. The in-cabin joystick controls the water cannon, which can be used while the truck is idling to "conserve fuel."
Behind the dashboard, Cat MineStar Edge connectivity collects and communicates truck data for better fleet management. Data sets can include truck location and utilisation, fuel and water levels, volume of distributed water, coverage area, and water flow rate, among other metrics.
As noted in the statement, the 785D offers a manual and auto mode.
"Manual mode allows the operator to set a constant water flow rate, regardless of speed. Featuring exclusive variable active spray heads to regulate water spray and flow, the 785D delivers a water flow rate ranging from 130 to 2270L/min per spray head," it read.
The 785D is the second new water solutions truck the OEM has introduced recently. The smaller 777(05) hit the market in early August, boasting a 75,700L water tank capacity.
