Finnish mining engineering company Metso Outotec will deliver a raw material treatment plant to a gold plant project in the Middle East.
The company said the new plant will maintain the undisclosed gold plant's process performance and efficiency.
Worth approximately $11.7 million (€10 million), the new plant is part of Metso Outotec's Planet Positive technology initiatives, the objective of which is to make operations more environmentally friendly.
The plant's system removes harmful elements, such as suspended solids, colloidal particles, dissolved compounds and bacteria, the company explained.
The first step of the process removes larger contaminants from the feed water using specially designed screens.
The water is then treated in a chemi-mechanical process that removes harmful components before the final polishing filtration step, which ensures the water for the various process stages.
