Mineral supply chain company Circulor has signed an ESG-compliant collaborative partnership with manganese producer Element 25 (E25) to establish full manganese traceability standards and dynamic tracking of CO2 emissions.

The company said the partnership would play "a critical role" in E25, demonstrating traceability and ESG compliance for its manganese products as part of its Zero Carbon Manganese strategy.

The partnership will enable "real-time, digital visibility of dynamic ESG metrics," it said, including CO2 intensity and energy mix used, will be made available to downstream market participants, including offtake partners, the company said.

Circulor's platform will also enable E25 to demonstrate its fulfillment of United Nations Sustainability Development Goals and the European Commission's Battery Regulation, the company explained.

The tracking and tracing will include the current manganese concentrate products and the planned production of high-purity manganese sulfate (HPMSM) battery materials manufactured through the downstream processing of Butcherbird manganese concentrate.

Circulor's chief executive officer Doug Johnson-Poensgen said with real-time transparency; it is "possible together with downstream customers" to bring sustainability-produced battery materials to market.

Justin Brown, managing director of E25, described the collaborative partnership as "a fantastic example of how the minerals industry is evolving to provide better traceability and accountability."

Circulor was recently featured in an article by Mining Magazine on blockchain and traceability in the mining sector.
