Arctic Gel is a superabsorbent polymer applied in granular form onto water. It quickly absorbs and retains the water, transforming into a lightweight, transparent gel. At this point, it can be manually or mechanically scooped away. Arctic Gel expands at a ratio of 300:1; 1lb (454g) of powder absorbs approximately 36 gallons (136L) of water.

Strata stated that Arctic Gel is equally effective underground or on the surface, and is 100% environmentally safe and toxin-free. No special precautions or Hazmat procedures are required. Underground mines can safely deposit gel onto belt drives to discard.
