The company said the highlights of the last five weeks include the mobilisation of all major site contractors, which it achieved by November 8. It also wrapped up a majority of the project’s site clearance and initial preparations, as it gets set to begin civil works in 2018.

Gold Bar’s water and power infrastructure has been installed, along with communications equipment and the site’s temporary offices. The water supply system placement has started.

Finally, development of the mine’s initial production source, the Cabin Creek pit, has commenced.

Officials said all work began immediately when it received its environmental impact statements (EIS) last month.

“We are on track for…2019,” the company said. The unseasonably mild winter conditions this year have allowed us to accelerate aspects of our construction schedule.”

The Eureka County mine, situated in the Battle Mountain-Eureka-Cortez gold trend, is set to produce 65,000oz per year.

In addition to Gold Bar, McEwen’s assets include the San Jose mine in Santa Cruz, Argentina; the El Gallo gold mine and El Gallo silver project in Mexico; the Black Fox mine in Timmins, Canada; and the Los Azules copper project in Argentina.
