PRESS RELEASE: The hub will serve the growing demand from the municipal and industrial sectors across the Philippines and Southeast Asia, particularly in flood control, mining and power supply operations. It will also further expand Xylem’s footprint in the region and build on the company’s current manufacturing and sales operations in Calamba.
David Flinton, senior vice president and president of Xylem's dewatering business, said: “We continue to experience increased rental demand throughout Southeast Asia as customers recognise the value of Xylem’s rental offer - a quick and cost-effective way to tackle water removal challenges. More and more customers are turning to rental to reduce capital costs. In addition, as climate change drives volatility in weather patterns, the need for contingency planning solutions and emergency pumping equipment is growing. This new facility strengthens our presence in the region, enabling us to better meet customers’ needs with timely, turn-key solutions from a single, experienced source.”
Xylem’s Godwin and Flygt brands play a key role in dewatering and liquids transfer in municipal and industrial projects, including mining. As the second largest mining market in Southeast Asia, the Philippines has mineral resources estimated at approximately US$1 trillion. With over 40 large-scale mines in operation, Xylem’s new pump rental and service hub will help maximise the efficiency of mines across the country. Furthermore, by 2030, US$25 billion will be invested in expanding power generation infrastructure across the Philippines. Xylem’s new facility is set to capitalise on this planned investment, offering technologies to minimise system downtime at plants. Finally, as the heavily storm-exposed the Philippines faces a growing threat from tropical cyclones, Xylem’s hub will offer immediate access to flood control equipment to protect communities, infrastructure, and industries.
Steve Leung, senior vice president and president of Xylem’s Emerging Markets, commented: “By utilising rental options, businesses can cut capital expenditure and lead times while accessing extensive dewatering rental fleets and 24/7 on-site services to keep critical operations moving and minimise downtime. Our new pump rental and service hub will offer customers access to our extensive technology portfolio which includes submersible and surface-mounted pump options, backed by highly skilled application engineers and field operations teams who quickly respond to customers’ dewatering needs.”
With a wide range of Godwin and Flygt pumps available for rent, the 2,600m2 Calamba hub offers general dewatering rental services, preventive maintenance, pump watch, pipeline outsource contacts and aftermarket services.
