The rebranding, which began March 1, to ABB Motor and Mechanical (Canada), comes after seven years of Baldor Electric Canada's membership in the ABB Group, which is harmonising different ABB-owned brands under the global master brand.

ABB said it will continue to manufacture, design and market the Baldor-Reliance motor and Dodge mechanical power transmission product lines. Its four Canadian locations will also continue to support ABB's entire Canadian motors and generators business unit, which includes ABB-branded IEC motors, large AC motors, generators and related services.

Its Canada-based motor and mechanical portfolio will be included within a broader portfolio of ABB Ability digital solutions.

"This represents yet another great step in building a market-focused, lean organisation and unifying the ABB brand across the globe," motors and drives general manager Daniel Cotton said.

ABB Canada president Nathalie Pilon said the company will continue to invest in the products and its local Canadian team following its US$13 million investment in North America over the last 10 years.

Now more than 130 years old, ABB has 135,000 employees in more than 100 countries. In Canada, where it has 50 facilities, ABB's history extends more than a century.
