The new model, suitable for applying abrasion-resistant coatings to equipment such as conveyor equipment, walkways and transportation equipment, was designed to be portable for small-volume uses, including touch-ups and repairs.

"Unlike large and expensive plural component spray equipment that is difficult to transport to remote mining sites, the MixCoat spray system is extremely lightweight," the company noted; set-up, clean-up and breakdown are all fast and easy to keep maintenance cycles moving along.

The new model also works well with challenging-to-apply, 100%-solid epoxies and fast-set polyurethanes and polyureas, and even new abrasion-resistant specialty coatings, including those with glass flake additives.

The complete system includes cartridges with packaged coating material, a mixer and a pneumatic operated spray. Once put together, the ergonomically designed model - paired with the DPS spray dispenser - can be used with one hand and settings can be dialed in on the handle for 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 ratios.

Sulzer also has the Mixpac MixCoat manual model available for mining applications. It does not require pre-mixing or metering, and is suitable for high-solid epoxies and touch-up applications.

"With this system, components are kept separate until forced through the static mixer; this minimises waste from unused coating," the company said. "Users no longer need to worry about pot life."
