Disruption in mining could take many forms, or none at all

European and Japanese salt miners are among the oldest companies in the world. Miners, and mining companies, have shown over centuries they are a resilient bunch. But is that going to be enough for today's leaders to prosper, not just survive, in future? Can companies with operational footprints etched firmly in the ground, in the rich resources that underpin enterprises, and with billions of dollars of fixed infrastructure sitting on the ground above, be flexible and agile enough to compete in a world changing at ever greater speed around them?
