PRESS RELEASE: The mobile device, which can be converted easily to be a fully functional area-monitoring device, is light and small with a colour screen that can display levels including flammable gases, vapours and oxygen.

A green light on the detector, for example, indicates it is ready for use, but a gas alarm will trigger a red light to appear. It also has a loud (100 decibel) horn and palpable vibration, and the screen will display one of four pre-set hazard symbols for easy, rapid recognition.

The X-am 800's practical functionality permits a user to switch between pump and diffusion mode, saving not only energy but also operating time without factory modification. Because it charges inductively, the detector is more durable, has a longer life and is less vulnerable to dust, dirt and water.

Added accessories can add capabilities for clearance measurement, leak detection and benzene-specific testing with the PID.

"An accurately performed clearance measurement is one of the most important safety measures that helps to safeguard against accidents associated with toxic gases, vapours and hazardous substances," gas detection product portfolio marketing manager Larry Medina said.

"Developed in close collaboration with more than 250 of our customers, the X-am 8000 has been carefully designed and optimized for practical use in the field."

In addition to mining, the X-am 8000 is ideal for use in oil and gas, fire services, the chemical industry and more.
