The new release is a compact secondary belt cleaner with the ability to be installed in tight spaces - requiring just 5.27in (134mm) from blade tip to mainframe bottom. It has been constructed with individually cushioned stainless steel blades and tungsten carbide tips, allowing for effective cleaning with negligible risk to belts, splicing or blades (even on reversing belts).

With an all-steel, powder-coated construction, the cleaner's ideal applications are corrosive environments and areas with high-speed belts and high-tonnage loads. A narrow, material-resistant profile can be installed in tight quarters, a dust-tight door covering the mainframe allows efficiency in the installation, and rubber buffers maintain cleaning pressure once in use.

"The blades conform to the belt profile, adjusting individually to deliver continuous contact across the belt," conveyor products manager Dave Mueller said.

"In a perfect world, bulk materials would load uniformly, wearing the blade evenly, but that rarely happens. By having multiple segments attached to a single rigid assembly, the tension can be maintained and adjusted accurately, quickly and safely."

Martin Engineering added that the removal and replacement of blades is simple with the newest SQC2 cleaner: just removing a lock pin from the main support assembly and sliding out the cartridge.

The company said its lock pins are key to its ‘no-reach design' that allows workers to conduct safer lockout/tag-out procedures, and the new release helps mines with OSHA compliance because of its inclusion in the company's Safety First product line.

The SQC2S RM cleaner is suitable for belt widths from 18-72in and operating speeds up to 750ft per minute (3.81m per second). It can also be used in applications with operating temperatures between -30°F and 300°F (-34°C and 149°C).
