Ametek, which provides machine condition monitoring for mining and other industrial applications, has now added lab-based and on-site instrumentation, as well as consumables and cloud-based software analytics to its range, all part of Spectro Scientific's industry portfolio.
The company will now be part of Ametek's Electronic Instruments Group (EIG).
Ametek chairman David Zapico said the differentiated solutions all serve a growing demand for predictive maintenance.
"Spectro's solutions nicely complement our strategy to integrate instrumentation data with cloud-based software and analytics," he said.
Privately held Spectro CEO Brian Mitchell said customers will continue to see the support and innovation they are used to from the group, which had annual sales on its own of about US$50 million.
"Our mission over the last several years has been to focus on new technology development; strategic company and product acquisitions; and the continual improvement of Spectro products, providing our customers with the most advanced, precise and convenient fluid-analysis tools possible," Mitchell said.
Spectro Scientific's product offerings include spectrometers for wear metal analysis, lubricant degradation and contamination analysers, particle analysis instruments, complete turnkey systems for oil or fuel analysis laboratories and the TruVu 360 enterprise fluid intelligence data-management platform.
