GR Engineering Services has been awarded a A$16.3-million (US$11.6-million) engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for Carrapateena's Northern Wellfield.
The scope of work includes detailed design, survey, supply, transportation, construction, testing and commissioning for the development of trunkline and transfer pumping stations associated with four wells on site that will supply water to the mineral-processing plant currently under construction.
The works will begin immediately and should be finished in the September quarter of this year.
GR Engineering's managing director Geoff Jones believes the award of the contract demonstrated the company's credentials in supplying process infrastructure and performing ancillary works on a turnkey basis to support broader project delivery.
"Carrapateena is a globally significant copper-gold development project and our team is looking forward to working with OZ Minerals to make a meaningful contribution to its safe and successful delivery."
Commissioning of the project is scheduled for the December quarter of 2019, after which it will ramp up to steady state production.
