Pentium will perform water-well services and dual rotary drilling at the open-pit mine 330km northeast of Kalgoorlie. It will also drill and work on dewatering at various locations of the complex, including open-pit areas, bore fields and the tailings storage facility (TSF).
Parent company Vysarn confirmed Pentium had already commenced procurement of long-lead items. Drill rig and auxiliary plant mobilisation is set for early October.
The contractor's scope of work, which will begin after the mobilisation, should be complete by mid-December.
"This is the fourth rig mobilised by the company in less than a month since acquiring the hydrogeological drilling assets from Ausdrill," MD Sheldon Burt said. "[It] confirms the board's confidence in the underlying demand for the company's assets and services."
The news follows the JV owners' announcement earlier this year that it would undertake a multi-million dollar expansion and development project to go underground at Tropicana.
