The company is planning to open the new facility in early 2021, moving its staff from the company's current home in neighboring Grand Rapids. Construction has already commenced.
The 288,000ft2 (26,756m2) building on 36 acres (14.5 hectares) will have 65,000ft2 (6,038m2) dedicated for training, office and wellness spaces. The remaining capacity will be devoted to manufacturing.
Flexco will actually be consolidating two locations of staff and expertise in the move, as the conveyor manufacturer had previously purchased a building near the current Grand Rapid campus.
Officials said the upgrade to a larger and fully integrated facility was needed due to a growing global demand for Flexco products.
"[Worldwide customers are seeking] support [for] a wider range of products, world-class manufacturing technology and increased support staff… to improve their unit handling and bulk handling conveyor systems," president and CEO Richard White said.
"The Walker location allows us to bring all of our resources back under one roof while providing additional land for future expansion."
Flexco and its design-build team of Pioneer Construction and Progressive AE will hold an official groundbreaking for the project on November 18.
All 175 of its current team members are expected to move to the new building, and the supplier is estimating a future 30% increase in employees tied to its projected sales growth post-move.
Aside from its Illinois and Michigan locations, Flexco also operates subsidiaries in Australia, Chile, China, England, Germany, India, Mexico, Singapore and South Africa.
