The CURT software allows mine operators to monitor dust and odours and control them automatically and remotely from a centralised control room or a PC, laptop or smartphone.

According to distributor Tecpro, this gives greater quality control and reduces the risk of regulatory fines as there is no need to rely on onsite staff to operate the systems.

CURT also minimises energy and water usage as the dust and odour suppression equipment will only operate when it is required.

Using a combination of electronic noses, dust sensors, weather stations, photocells and ultrasound, CURT will monitor onsite atmospheric conditions to activate and deactivate the site's various dust control systems as they are required. It can sense environmental conditions such as wind speed and direction, rain, humidity and temperature to activate specific equipment when conditions reach pre-defined parameters.

With its electronic ‘noses', CURT can measure dust or odour levels at different locations around the site and automatically respond by activating the most appropriate suppression equipment in the CURT system. Equally, CURT will ensure dust and odour suppression equipment are deactivated in high winds or heavy rain.

Using ultrasound and photocell technology, the CURT system can be set to automatically activate dust control equipment when vehicles enter an area for loading or unloading. Likewise, the system can be set to react to triggers from other systems, for example when conveyors start operating.

There is also an option to implement a timer control with calendar function. This allows equipment programming to co-ordinate with certain operating processes or to coincide with the beginning and end of each shift.

CURT was created by Italian emission control company EMiControls. The automated system can be retrofitted to any EMi dust and odour suppression equipment to provide a total, and fully automated package.

Tecpro Australia is the exclusive distributor for all EMiControls dust and odour control products in Australia and New Zealand.
