The Mesa facility offers repairs and field services, while supporting Metso's Life Cycle Services contracts. According to the industrial group, Mesa has seen steady growth since 2015, with 2019 setting "a record for safety performance, revenue and profitability".

Metso is now aiming to offer more services for large rebuilds, with the installation of a new stress relief oven. It said this would improve quality control and accelerate turnaround times for clients.

In addition to the stress relief oven, Mesa has also invested in other equipment to support the repair of mining screens, LIMS (wet low intensity magnetic separator) drums and babbitted bearings for mills.

Metso has also added a screen test stand, which will be operational by end of March. The stand will allow each screen that is rebuilt at Mesa to be test-run before being sent back out into the field, which could reduce the potential for issues during installation and start-up.

Last year, the facility also put in place equipment needed to repair LIMS drums, after which it witnessed a steady inflow of repairs coming from mines in the Iron Range.

Metso said it would continue to incorporate further "value-added services" to the facility's portfolio to help improve its mining customers' productivity and reduce their operational costs.
