Plant 1, which is the company's environmental remediation and precious metals production facility was disassembled, moved and reassembled at a newly acquired nearby location which neighbors Plant 2, or the Boston project.

"The new larger site allows for a future increase in the project scale [and]…accommodates both the company's enhanced laboratory and basecamp and is closer to the artisanal mines and sources of tailings feedstock," Newlox said.

The plant's new location has other advantages, including lower transportation costs and enhanced project logistics. It will also help to facilitate production growth, the company said, and increase site security.

Because it will be located outside of municipal limits, it will allow for greater safety, as pandemic concerns are lower.

It is still accessible by municipally maintained roads, is connected to renewably sourced grid electricity, and is easily accessible for local emergency services.

Production restart is being targeted for early October. Once back online, the miner will immediately ramp up operations at the first processing plant.

Plant 1, at full-scale operation, will have a processing capacity of 80 tonnes per day.
