The customer will use BulkExpert, which integrates 3D laser scanning system and RTK-GPS technologies, to automate stockyards at two large iron ore shipping export terminals in the south of the country, said the company. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Mikko Tepponen, CDO at FLSmidth, noted that the same client had used BulkExpert for five years at terminal stockyard in Southeast Asia. "We are delighted to receive this repeat order for the BulkExpert as it is a clear indication of the customer's satisfaction with the solution," said Tepponen.
The order includes the core digital solution and advanced automation for three stockyard machines at one port, and eight stockyard machines at the other, including standalone and combined stackers and bucket wheel (BW) reclaimers.
"This was a complex and key project for the customer," commented Ole Knudsen, head of Digital Global Product Line Management at FLSmidth. "We worked especially closely and comprehensively with them to ensure perfect alignment on scheduling and implementation. This work will mean an increase in productivity without loss of production due to downtime."
