In an operational update, the Africa-focused miner said it met the full production goal during November after completing a production ramp-up over that month.

The company said production totaled 63.9 tonnes of concentrate in November, a 32% increase from October, and containing 41.6 tonnes of tin metal.

"The production level achieved in November represents approximately 107% of the Stage I target in terms of tin concentrate tonnes produced and 116% of the Stage I target in terms of tin contained in concentrate," AfriTin said, noting it met this milestone before the end of the year - for which it was previously expected.

Tin concentrate production, it added, has been a total of 301 tonnes in the year to date.

AfriTin said that even with COVID-19 restrictions, it is continuing to ship tin concentrate through the Walvis Bay port to its offtake partner in Thailand unabated.

"AfriTin will now focus on maintaining steady-state production, while exploring opportunities for further optimisation and expansion of the operation."

"These opportunities include a modular expansion of the plant throughput and potential production of a by-product in the form of a tantalum concentrate."

It is also doing test work to examine the feasibility of magnetically separating tantalum minerals from tin concentrate.

AfriTin confirmed its first tin concentrate from Uis, which is located in the Erongo region, in late August 2019.
