The facility in Cranberry Township, set to open in mid-2021, will improve productivity in its gas detection portfolio and also support its expected future growth. The new 20,000-square-foot, single-story space will be used exclusively for assembly work.

In all, MSA's campus is 320 acres, including its gas detection Center of Excellence. The new investment will enhance the plant's and centre's role in gas detection technology, it said.

"MSA's portable instrument and fixed gas and flame detection (FGFD) businesses have been strong drivers of MSA's growth in recent years," chairman, president and chief executive Nish Vartanian said.

MSA will break ground on the new building at the end of June.

MSA, established in 1914, has 1,250 of its 5,000 global employees located at its headquarters.
