The new plant in the northern region of Šiauliai will produce rubber and poly-met wear parts for mining customers.

"The ramp-up of the new factory in Lithuania has been now completed … [and] first products have been successfully sent to our customers," said Sami Takaluoma, president, Consumables business at Metso Outotec. "Our target is to continuously develop our global operations to ensure a competitive footprint."

The factory, which is the company's 11th to produce synthetic solutions, will employ 80 staff by the end of 2020.

Lithuania was chosen due to its strategic location between Europe and Russia, and with good logistical connections to the Middle East and Africa regions. The company also opened a new Business Services center in Vilnius, the capital, 12 months ago.

Metso Outotec noted in its statement that the factory utilizes fossil-free and renewable electricity in its production, and processes have been optimized for each customer segment.
