ThoroughTec Simulation will become Caterpillar's approved supplier of mining equipment simulators, and be given access to confidential Cat machine technical data under the deal.
ThoroughTec said the addition of Caterpillar machine data and operating characteristics into the simulators will "significantly" enhance the overall operator training experience.
"Together, Caterpillar Mining and ThoroughTec Simulation are committed to helping customers effectively train operators in the most efficient, safe and realistic way possible," wrote the ThoroughTec statement.
Caterpillar vehicles that are currently featured in ThoroughTec's simulations include the 994F wheel loader simulator, the 740B ADT, the 797B haul truck and the CAT D11T dozer.
Nordgold last November installed a "full-mission" fleet operations simulator developed by ThoroughTec at its West Africa Training Centre (WATC) in Guinea.
