Digital solutions provider Hexagon has launched two new portfolios for the mining sector.

The company has also introduced a new underground mining portfolio with integrated sensor software.

The company said that the latest offerings include an autonomous portfolio designed to protect people and equipment while also addressing the need to decarbonise.

Some of the features offered in the autonomous mining portfolio were outlined as autonomously managing vehicle traffic, improving fleet situation awareness and introducing drill automation.

At the heart of the system is the company's Core computing platform, which can connect a unique ecosystem of sensors and software.

"The portfolio can help mines to succeed today while preparing for tomorrow," said Andrew Crose, vice president of autonomous mining at Hexagon.  "But HxGN Autonomous Mining will bring immediate benefits for customers, from better blast outcomes with drilling automation to improved equipment performance and production via autonomously managed vehicle movement."

The company has also introduced a new underground mining portfolio with integrated sensor software for collision avoidance, drill optimisation and production planning.

"The portfolio's optimisation software for production and development enables mines to achieve consistent blasting outcomes with high-precision drilling and optimal set-up processes," said Mateus Quintela, Hexagon's head of product. "Beyond benefitting business, better drilling practices are good for the planet, reducing CO2 emissions and supporting sustainability goals."

Hexagon's newest portfolios are on display at the company's digital reality conference in Las Vegas, which runs through June 15.
