Zenith Power will build a 30MW power generation capacity for the mine, with gas will be supplied via a connection to the Goldfields Gas Pipeline and 2MW solar farm to be linked to a battery energy storage system.

The 10-year Power Purchase Agreement starts in the March quarter of 2022, with an option to upgrade the capacity should Red 5 increase output beyond the initial planned 4Mtpa run-rate.

"The Power Purchase Agreement with Zenith …. [has] provided us with a compelling hybrid thermal and sustainable power solution that includes renewable energy," said Red 5 managing director Mark Williams.

"Zenith's combination of a gas and solar power station, supported by a Battery Energy Storage System, provides the efficiency and stability required for the processing plant and infrastructure to enable King of the Hills to be a longlife, low-cost gold producer."

Last March, the bulk mineral resource at 16-year life-of-mine KOTH, which is scheduled to see first gold poured in mid-2022, was increased to 4.1 moz.
