Under the scope of the contract, Civmec will be responsible for the full vertical delivery of the loading, crushing, ore screening and associated conveyor systems at the facility.

Shop detailing, fabrication, delivery and site installation of the civil, structural, mechanical, piping and electrical works are also included in this package of work.

Civmec CEO Patrick Tallon, said the company had worked extensively with Fortescue for some time to secure this award.

The package for Eliwana will provide employment for an estimated 300 local people, both at Civmec's heavy engineering facilities where the fabrication will be undertaken, and in the Pilbara for on-site works.

Work will start in the coming months, with completion anticipated by late-2020.

While no value was put on the contract, Civmec told the market the value of works secured since the start of the financial year, which included contracts secured by the group's maintenance division and subsea fabrication work for an oil and gas company, was about A$120 million (US$81 million).

These most recent contract awards take the group's current order book to about A$850 million.
