On the heels of significant equipment orders for mines in Russia, FLSmidth has booked in another one worth DK260 million (US$37 million) for 2020, this time in Belarus.

The Danish engineering group will deliver liquid-solid separation equipment islands, which include thickener and clarifier as well as pan- and horizontal belt filter packages, to the project. The equipment islands also come with a full automation package.

When in production, the new mining and processing complex will have an output capacity of between 1.1 to 2.0 million tonnes of potassium chloride per year.

FLSmidth mining president Manfred Schaffer said the plant engineering order was booked in the September quarter of 2019, and now it secured the equipment order from CITIC Construction, a subsidiary of CITIC Group and the construction contractor for Slavkaliy.

"This significant level of automation and digitalisation, in combination with our equipment, will also mean the lowest possible on-site energy consumption. Slavkaliy and FLSmidth have a common focus on minimal environmental impact, and this order very much supports FLSmidth's MissionZero ambition," he added.

The group will start delivering the equipment towards the end of this year, finishing during 2021. According to FLSmidth, its experts will provide supervision during the erection and commissioning phases to ensure the timely opening of the complete complex, expected in the December quarter of 2023.
