Axpo reached an agreement with UK-based Green Investment Group (GIG) that will see the processing plants of Eramet subsidiary Eramet Norway supplied with power from GIG's 79.8 Megawatt Buheii and 47 MW Tysvær wind farms until 2038.
"We are committed to … supporting companies from the energy-intensive industrial sector such as Eramet Norway in achieving their requirements for long-term, predictably priced power on attractive commercial terms," said Edward Northam, head of GIG Europe.
The wind power will be used for Eramet Norway's Porsgrunn, Sauda and Kvinesdal plants.
A joint statement from Eramet and GIG in April stated the Tysvaer wind farm alone will displace an estimated 7,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Eramet Norway has an annual electricity demand of more than 2 terawatt-hours.
