Mexus will feed the mill with ore gathered from quartz vein systems at the Santa Elena, which is located is located 54km northwest of Caborca in Sonora state.
Mexus has developed a plan targeting the high-grade quartz vein as part of the ‘Julio' vein that the company has identified near the prolific Mojave-Sonora Mega Shear Zone.
Material with an average cutoff grade of 10g/t gold will be milled and gold recovered by the gravity system with lower grades continuing to be placed on the heap leach pad.
In August, the company announced it has acquired an excavator that will allow it to increase its daily production with the short-term goal of reaching 500t/d. The company currently has four haul trucks and three excavators onsite which will assist in the planned expansion.
