Rio Tinto agrees power deal for Iceland smelter

The company has agreed a new power purchase agreement with utility Landsvirkjun for its ISAL aluminium smelter and has withdrawn a complaint filed with the Icelandic Competition Authority, ICA, in July 2020 regarding the energy supply for the plant.

The utility said in a statement the companies agreed on amending the PPA dating back to 2010, "thereby allowing the Straumsvik aluminum smelter to continue operating with a stronger competitive position"....
