Schneider Electric has deployed its EcoStruxure Control Expert - Asset Link system, in combination with AVEVA System Platform and Schneider Modicon M580, for the visualisation and integration of Vale's operations.

That unification solution allows Vale to integrate, centralise, and remotely monitor operations across its Mariana and Itabira complexes in Brazil, according to a joint statement.

Vale as a result has been able to unify operations across multiple sites and upgrade its old system to one capable of remotely controlling all the diverse technologies operating across each mining facility.

Remote management enables Vale to have fewer professionals onsite.

"Schneider Electric and AVEVA … have provided a complete, bespoke end-to-end service helping us optimize at every turn. This included training, support, and advice throughout," said said Paulo Henrique Fontes Coura, Senior Automation Leader, Vale.

"Mining operations are data-rich environments where digital transformation can drive sustainability and productivity gains for improved asset utilization and enhanced value optimization," commented Marc Ramsay, Vice President, Global Strategic Partners, AVEVA. "Together with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, AVEVA System Platform supports Vale in realizing the mines of the future
