Finnish equipment maker Metso Outotec has secured a €24 million (US$26 million) order from a state-run Indian company for an iron ore travelling grate pellet plant.
NMDC Limited, a government of India public enterprise, will install the plant in Nagarnagar, Chhattisgarh, in central India. The plant, which will produce 2 mtpy of high-quality iron ore pellets is expected to go into production in 2024.
"We have delivered several large-size pellet plants to India, and are excited to cater also for the smaller size plants' market," says Matthias Gabriel, Director of Ferrous Solutions at Metso Outotec.
Metso Outotec has secured several orders for travelling grate pelletizing technology in recent years, with an installed worldwide base of over 100 plants.
Earlier this month, Metso Outotec secured another order in India, for an iron ore grate kiln pellet plant operated by Jindal Steel Odisha in the east of the country.
Traveling grate pelletizing plants use an induration technology for iron ore pellet production for a wide range of plant capacities. Traveling grate sinter plant reduces off-gas volumes and the emission of hazardous pollutants, while reducing fuel consumption.
