Metso, which is expected to merge with fellow Finnish process tech outfit Outotec in the June quarter of this year, is making new plans for its global distribution and logistics footprint.
SVP for customer logistics at Metso Jarkko Aro said the company's aim was to offer flexible warehouse operations "with easy scalability", meaning orders would be sent to customers from central warehouses.
"It would also enable considerable savings in end-to-end freight costs and reduced CO2 emissions," he added.
During the consultations, Metso will evaluate the different options for its current warehouses in nine locations in Norway, Sweden, the UK, France, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey and Russia. This could affect about 40 employees, but only within the warehouse operations.
