Epiroc wins order to expand Turkish mines

Epiroc, a mining equipment manufacturer, will supply Eti Bakir, Turkey's largest mining company, with a fleet of machinery that will be used to expand three underground copper mines.

The company said the order included a variety of drill rigs, mine trucks and loaders, and will be deployed at the Kastamonu Kure, Artvin Murgul and Siirt Madeonkoy mines.

The machines ordered include Boomer face drilling rigs, Simba production drilling rigs, Boltec rock reinforcement rigs, Scooptram loaders and Minetruck hauliers.

The company will equip the machines with its telematics system Certiq, which allows for intelligent monitoring of machine performance and productivity in real-time.

Some of the machines will have Epiroc's Rig Control System, RCS, installed, making them ready for automation and remote control.

Additionally, the order, which included service, spare parts and consumables, will be worth $16.22 million (SEK 140 million).

Helena Hedblom, Epiroc's president and chief executive officer, said the machines would play a key role in improving the mines' productivity.
