Since July 5, the company has completed the calcium feldspar process plant's internal steel and mechanical installation ad well as the building's steel. Cladding is 80% finished, with only the roof remaining.

The electrical installation, including cable trays at the plant, has begun with contractor Lillegaarden EL, and at the product storage building the steel erection phase is half done with crews on track for completion by the end of next month.

Also at White Mountain, where 41 workers are on-site, a trip of 630kVA plant generators, including the control room, are in place, and the automation room at the facility is now in place next to the process plant.

Construction work for the port-to-mine road is at 75%. Just 2.5km of the 11km remain, and the balance of work should wrap up by the end of September.

"We are very happy with the pace of construction on the site," president James Tuer said, noting that White Mountain has taken delivery of its new Sandvik DX800 production drill and Hyundai HL980 wheel loader.

"It's very impressive to witness the daily progress as the project moves to production in the coming months; we look forward to shipping product [to North America] by the end of the year."

Hudson said in July it had selected a handful of contractors for the various work at the site, from Ironclad Metals to oversee the steel and mechanical erection of the process plant, ore storage and material handling facilities and Gisborne for mechanical installation. Its construction manager is Merit Consultants International.
