Together, the two systems can permit direct connection of the four-hour BioPak facemask with the Sentinel system's mine rescue headset, with the benefits of improved voice quality as the microphone will be located inside the mask.
IWT's system has received approvals from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the US Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).
"The improved communications between mine rescue team members and the fresh air base offered by this system reduces chances of errors and improves team safety," Biomarine North American sales and training manager Ted Beck said.
IWT sales and marketing vice president Phil Carrier added that the microphone placement will improve clarity and, thus, the user experience of the systems working in tandem.
Biomarine is a member of the distributor network of US-based supplier Jennmar.
