The company, which has a comprehensive line of technology and components for optimised longwall production, recently unveiled the Cat EL1000 shearer for low to mid seam heights, specifically between 1.6 to 3.2 metres.
The second recent introduction is the Cat PF HD line pan for armoured face conveyors (AFCs). Specially designed for heavy-duty longwall applications with demanding conditions, it has up to double the lifespan of its corresponding PF5 and PF6 pans.
The OEM will be taking these items to the upcoming Katowice Mining Fair in Poland, where it will offer interactive presentations on its newest products. This also includes a preview of the Cat HTD4100 high-torque drive system for longwall AFCs.
"The drive enables a higher level of automation for enhanced speed and torque control and real-time monitoring, and its modular design simplifies installation and maintenance," Cat said, adding that the unit's converter-controlled torque motor also gives the user a fast response and precise control that can aid in reducing wear and failure of a conveyor chain.
In the area of roof support control, Cat is introducing the PMC-R 2.0, a successor to its very successful Cat PMC-R control unit. Created to meet the automation requirements of high-performance longwall operations, it has been designed with advanced microcontroller technology that has increased computing power and enhanced communication capabilities for greater functionality in self-advancing systems.
Finally, Cat said it and its dealer network have come together to create an on-site support network for service, integrated solutions and after-sales support along with fast and efficient parts fulfillment and world-class remanufacturing services.
Services include Caterpillar Accredited Rebuilds (CAR) for longwall roof supports, which can provide a mine with a like-new roof support that has a new machine warranty and new serial number.
Caterpillar will be joined by its dealer Bergerat Monnoyeur at next month's event, and it will feature digital presentations of all of its additions.
