The pair of companies did not release any timeline specifics or financial details for the collaboration, but ASI confirmed it has been using Danfoss components in its solutions for more than two decades.
In fact, officials noted, ASI has for a long time utilised Danfoss Power Solutions' PLUS+1 software platform in some of the vehicles it has previously automated.
"This partnership demonstrates our ambition to invest in autonomy and be the innovative partner for our customers. It's a promising partnership and we are excited about the potential in vehicle automation," Danfoss president and CEO Kim Fausing said.
ASI president and CEO Mel Torrie added that the teaming offers a "strong signal" to the market that both companies will be focusing on the transformation of automated vehicles.
"This new partnership will ensure manufacturers have the needed support to streamline their efforts in making autonomous industrial vehicles a mainstream reality," Torrie noted.
ASI has already been a key component of mining autonomy projects for major operators including Barrick Gold.
Epiroc announced its support for the automation technology supplier in 2018 when it confirmed it had acquired 34% of the company.
