The crusher is to be the first above-ground gyratory crusher to be installed in Australia.

It is expected to play a key part in Roy Hill's efforts to take its output from 55 million tonnes per year to 60Mt/y.

This jaw gyratory crusher is characterised by an especially enlarged feed opening.

That feed opening is normally serrated and, together with the upper part of the mantle, forms the initial crushing zone.

The coarsely crushed material is then reduced to the desired product size in the crushing chamber below.

Jaw gyratory crushers can handle much larger material than comparable gyratory crushers of the same mantle diameter.

They also have a higher crushing ratio with less of a tendency to become clogged in the feed zone by material "bridging".

thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions head of sales Ben Suda said this was the third order for such a machine within a short time in Australia.
