Strata links up with Geoverse for new level of LTE/5G

Pair will offer Geoverse's spectrum to the mining industry.

Geoverse's solution merges the power of CBRS with the performance of licensed 600MHz and 700MHz spectrum to guarantee a reliable network where it is needed.

Geoverse's solution brings together a low-band licensed spectrum with citizens broadband radio service (CBRS), resulting in a private LTE/5G network that combines high performance, reliability, and the capability to adopt Industry 4.0 for mining as well as other industries.

"It merges the power of CBRS with the performance of licensed 600MHz and 700MHz spectrum to guarantee a reliable network where it is needed, supporting voice calling, high speed broadband and critical low-latency IoT," the Washington, US-based company said.

Strata, which already offers wireless communications to operations worldwide, noted the reach and performance of low-band spectrum technology makes it ideal for some mining applications, according to CTO Tom Michaud.

"It complements CBRS quite well, so collectively they can serve a variety of use cases found across our remote locations, providing a high-performance service connecting users, devices and even delivering highly reliable service for our automated equipment."

Geoverse offers an option for GeoCore to deploy the licensed 600 MHz and 700 MHz spectrum from their solutions across 14 western US states. Because the network uses a licensed spectrum, it belongs exclusively to the enterprise it serves.

Geoverse CEO and co-founder Rod Nelson said products are well suited to mining as well as energy and other industries because the conventionally used "patchwork of networks" can be hard to manage, costly and have the potential to not offer needed connectivity requirements.

"In the era of automation and the digital workplace, inadequate coverage and inconsistent performance can disrupt operations to reduce productivity and impact the bottom line," he said.

"Private LTE networks meet the design, operational, and performance requirements that heavy industry needs while giving them authority over coverage, capacity and function."
